Hello all
Id liek to start a thread about the decreasing musicality in todays music. People often mock my taste in music as i prefer such bands as LEd Zeppelin, Pinlk Floytd, and David Bowie, which are considered "old" and "foggie music". I have to say the music may not be recent, but i feel there is a lack of music in todays genre that can be classified as true "music". I can appreciate other styles of music outside rock, although i may not ENJOY them, but lets face it, rap when a guy is talkign about the luciousness of his ladies asses, that is not music. Id liek to hear feedback on this one. And if anyoen has any recomendations of any good classic rock groups wortha lsiten, run em by me (or any upcomign concerts)

Yeah man. I agree in some cases. This is what I think:
The older a music genre it is, the more crap there will be in it that is "new". See, when rock started it was great, because it was new, unadultered, and fresh, filled with creativity, then it got marketed and instead of Led Zeppelin, we get KISS, which had it's own lunchboxes and TV spots.
Once a genre becomes commercial, it starts to suck. It's the same with more rebelious music like Punk and Rap, both originally were about fighting the system, so it was filled with emotion, creativity, and passion, and then it got "sold out" and the two musics became Pop-Punk and Gangsta-Rap

Screw the people that make fun of you for listening to classic rock man. Obviously they never got the Led out. I don't care when things came out. I care if it's good music. Good classic rock bands: -Led Zeppelin -Deep Purple (machine head is an amazing album) -The Groundhogs (progressive blues...) -Genesis (Pre radio pop rubbish, the proggy stuff) -Brand X (check out the album Morrocan Roll...bloody amazing) -Pink Floyd -Rush -Supertramp And Darkside, don't be turned off by today's music just because it's new. You gotta dig deep...it takes crazy effort, but then you'll find bands like The Cinematic Orchestra, Coldplay, Incubus (yes, they have more then just radio hits ) etc. Good stuff.

I partially agree with ur argument although u leave 2 important parts out. Firstly, althouh Kiss were extremlely comercial, one cannto deny that they had some f**kign kick ass riffs and definatly showed musical talent. Althoguh they sold out, they were still musicla. THe fact of the mater is anyoen today can plkay the same four note over on a nynthesizer and sprinkle in random profanity, and still sell records....

Firstly thanks for all the great band recomendations. I knew all of them except the gorundhogs which i will surely check out (U FORGOT BOWIE) Please dptm think i shun all modern music. THeyre definatly is fresh respectabel talent. I love coldplay, the chillypeppers, audioslave and even soem outcast ( Prof K knows what im talkign about). Just over all the percentage of good music comign out ahs been declining

I love the old stuff, too. . .you forgot Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Queen, Alice Cooper (who I like much better than David Bowie - but I still like David Bowie, too).
But I like a lot of different music. . . .and as far as the commercialsim. . .I think bands like "Dirty Vegas" (Mitsubishi ads) and Jett and U2 (I-pods - I think). . introducing their songs, through these commercials, not only helped the sales of the products, but the sales of their CD's

Another song that i noticed is still pretty popular around is 'Ain't no Mountain High Enough'. At least... that's what i think it is... Then there's that 'goodbye' song. I remember first hearing it in Remember the Titans, and it fit the movie well!

I think it's great that some old-skool ROCK bands are getting back together to tour, like Motley Crue, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath. Hopefully they can show everyone how it's done all over again.
Dinosaur Jr. got back together too...awesome.

heheh Motley Crue! lolz I juss think they're funny! personally, I'm mixed! I listen to alot of the rap and stuff u guys are dissing, but I also love old songs and I listen to lots of old songs! I also like newer bands like Jet, Sum41 and Blink 182, and not many people do... Shame tho... But ya, lots of variety!~ I listen to basically everything except country and folk, which doesn't appeal to me.

It's called Angel of Retribution and apparently it's incredible. I've never really been into them, but I'll totally go check them out now.

Sorry Dragoneyes, but most of that "hardcore rap" is pure crap. . . .
D14, you're scaring me. . .I have some Japanese CD's and an Okinawan one. . .as well as a tape of Koto music.
