Holy Crap.
What a good game, and what an aggrivating ending. I'm usually pretty god at understanding shit... but this game throws me off a little (it might have something to do with me never actually beating Halo 1). So I have a few questions....
1. Who exactl DID create Halo? Do we know that yet? Whoever it was, did they also Create the Flood? or was Halo a method of controlling the flood?
2. If the first questions answer doesn't answer this one: WHAT THE HELL DO THE HALOs EXIST FOR ANYWAY?
3. Why does Guilty Spark refer to Master Cheif as a "reclaimer"?
4. Why do you never get to play that level that had the "betcha can't stick it" cutscene?
5. It seemed to me that the Brutes were a new addition to the covenant, and were kinda taking the Elites place in the prophets eyes.... so the Elites got jealous and started rebelling.... is that right?
And I have a few more questions, but I think, like number 3, they can only really be answered when Halo 3 comes out.

1. The forerunners, I don't know about the flood but the forerunners did at least study them, yes it was a method of controllingt them
2. Containing the flood and killing everything in the galaxy if the flood escape
3. The MJOLNIR(his armor) was something that the forerunners also used. In halo 1 he mentions that MC should have at least Mark 16 or something armor even though the humans hadn't even developed armor that advanced yet
4. It was just a demonstarion level and most of it was staged, and anyways it was only about 3 minutes long, parts of it are still in the game
5. Yes, that is correct.

1. The forunners created the halos, there are seven. They are built for containment protocol of a parasite called the flood. the forruner were also allied with the covenant, but they were in charge, and so the covenant knew little of what their purpose was after the extinciton (maybe) of the forunner, that is why they try to activate the halos. 2. The first question did asnwer this but, anyways, the halos, when activated, will obliterate all sentient life within 100, 000 light years, thus destroying any source of food for the flood, and eliminating them. 3. master cheif was not the first reclaimer, one human came before, he is here (so 343 guilty spark) to reclaim the forrunners legacy, to destroy the flood. quick point, during halo 1, 343 says that master cheif armor is inadequate, he should be equiped with a mark 12 (which 343 has), whereas MC is wearing mark 5. This implies that a technological advanced race built him (the forunner) and that he (343) in familier with master cheif's armor. (dum dum dum!) 4. You do, well kinda, the levels outskirts through to metropolis (2 levels total) are that level. Listen to the dialogue, the cutscenes, and the general setting. They mostly match up. The scarab wasnt in the old version though, and thats why the level seems so different. Also, the betcha cant stick it cutscene, MC would have got owned, it would have fit very well. 5. At first, the elites and the prophets were at war, they were mortal enemies, but then they formed an alliance, thus founding the covenant. The gradually tamed the different species (grunts, jackals, and hunters, brutes). Brutes werent present on halo, because that was a chasing mission to bring down the Pillar of Automn, not wage a full scale war. Yes, the elites have always been the prophets protectors, but now the Prophets mistrust the elites because they question their judgement. Truth (Prophet of) gives the order for the brutes to take over the honour guard, the prophets personal bodyguards (big shiny armor). The elites are robbed of their armor and status, so they rebel against the prophets, then finding out they have been more severely betrayed than they thought, all of them. Lastly, (not question 5 anymore) I would like to note, that the Prophet's Great journey and the activation of halos (containment) are one and the same. If you dint get that, then you wouldn't have gotten anything I said.

Just to elaborate on further weirdness, There were 3 spartan projects, I, II and III (obviously). All the Spartan I's disappeared. there were 75 Spartan II's, 68 were destroyed in the attack on Reach (human's military outpost, it is from Reach that the PoA went into hyperspace and drew the covenant off to halo) [neat tidbit of info: in hang 'em high, multiplayer map for halo 1, there are 68 pillar type things and the map description says "Tombstones for Everyone" neat eh?]. Of the seven survivors, I can only remember 2 names : Linda and John (Spartan 117, master cheif), so my point here is that there are more than one spartan, and that maybe in halo 3, you fight alongside one or two). The Spartan III's were never completed, so much not much can be said of them, except that sketchy scientist Ackerson engineered them then disappeared...

no, but I have my sources. Just like you know who the actor was for everyone (important) in the matrix probably. Hey, speaking of which, I was mentionned on the news page of halo's biggest fan site a few days ago ;D. well, only because I was the first to email them that redvsblue updated its movies, but that still counts

good point on the matrix thing <sigh> I'll never live that obsession down.
But seriously, Halo 2's story is quite interesting... they obviously planned out that there were going to be more than one... and put little details (that you already mentioned) into the first one.

I hope halo 3 is a nextbox launch title (I like to call it that). I was playing the first level on legendary today, hoowee, I dont know how poeple do that, its nuts, I can beat the second level on legendary no sweat, but the first is brutal (2nd hanger = suicide). i bet later legendary wont be so tough, Just like halo 1 legendary used to be wicked tough, now its just pretty hard. I find alot of people are complaining about halo 2 way to much. Mostly its the "pros", so I figure its just because they arent as good this time around, and it annoys them. But some other people also have beef with it, I just cant stand people who complain like they could do any better (says me complaining about poeple complaining ). If you dont like the game, dont play it, its pretty simple.

you need to check out gaming specific boards, they're full of whiny losers who claim they were really good at halo 1 and that halo 2 is n00bified just because they suck at it

publishers all give good reviews (but its arguable that they are corrupt and wantedto get more sales by giving a better review, or were paid of for a good review), but its the fans that give it mediocre reviews, particularily the competitive players (not just agressive players, but who actually play in competitions), and the tricksters (who say that its too easy to trick this time around, and that its not as rewarding when a newb can do it too).
But, really, what do they know, they just obsess (mostly over halo 1) and so think that anything different is bad.

I might be getting Halo 2 soon. It being easier is good news for me, since I sucked at Halo 1 (I couldn't get past level 3 on easy mode )

incase you got the "easier" from me, I meant easier to trick in, like hog launching and sword cancelling and getting "out" of levels. I find the game has a wider variety of difficulty, like the difficulty scale is IMO approx: [/li][li]easy 0.5 [/li][li]normal 1 [/li][li]heroic 1.5 [/li][li]legendary 2.5-3 the three easier difficulties are easy-challenging, then legendary is like "what is wrong with you people?!"
PS: in halo 1, the third level is quite widely viewed as the hardest because of the "belly of the beast" fight.
