How did this all start?
F_D's JGR/JSRF history:
Well, my initial interest in JGR started when I saw reviews and mentions of it on sites. When I first saw clips and stuff of it, I thought to myself "Damn, I need a Dreamcast! I know I'll love this game." Unfortunately, for the longest time, I couldn't remember what it (JGR) was called. When I tried to explain how awesome it looked and sounded, my brother didn't get it.
In the end, he talked me into getting a GameCube instead. Damn.
A while later, I heard about the sequel to JGR on the Xbox. This sucked because I had a PS2 and a GameCube, not an Xbox.
So my brother went to get an Xbox a long time later, and I found the last one with JSRF and Sega GT and was like "GET THIS ONE!" So he got that one. He set it up in his room and started up JSRF. I immediately sat on his floor and was completely fascinated with everything. It was just so... stylish. I wasn't used to it. My brother, because you're stuck with Yoyo at first, was like "Damn this guy's annoying!" I was like "Awwwww, but he's so FUN!" (I didn't know all the characters by name and stuff at this point.)
After this, my sister and I were pestering him to let us try for hours. My sister got to it first, so I had to wait until the next day.
At that point, I just loaded where my brother had left off, which was some point in Shibuya.
I started off as Gum, because she was the character I was most familiar with (As in I could easily identify her. XD). I didn't like Gum control-wise, I think. So I tracked down my brother, poked him, and was like "What's the name of the guy you can't stand?" And of course, it was Yoyo.
Then he challenged me to some multi races and stuff, and I kicked his arse as Yoyo, which is funny because he can't stand Yoyo.
And the rest is stuff I don't feel like typing and you probably don't feel like reading.

Here's mine: When we got the dreamcast two years ago, my brother and his friend was playing JGR first. I just sat on the floor all amused. I loved the music and the characters and we started to own our characters (heh, you know "I'm Gum!" and stuff like that) My bro said he was Beat, his friend said he was Garam, I said I was Gum ( I know I know) and my sis said she was Piranha. It was so funny. Then I started playing it. It was so cool. Then I became an addict. Then my bro said it wasn't his and took it away. Aww...And then I've played JGR ever since. JSRF...Hm...Never played but I'm longed to. The descriptions ya'll do is so awesome that I really want it now. I searched it stores but no JSRF. How do I get it? I don't know. Edit: I bid for JSRF on ebay for 3.00. Heh, I'm the highest bidder so far! ;D

Try searching in amazon. Get a used copy if you can, as those generally cost less.
As for me, I got JGR on one of those demo disk thingies. The demo had different voices... You wouldn't believe what they did to Onishima!

I know how you feel Rain, I've still never played JGR. It's like we're opposites. Yeah, I think Amazon or something like that's your best bet, and Ebay might work too. I always keep an eye on the stocks of stores because I want to get my very own copy of JSRF, without the whole Sega GT thing. It's so awesome, even though I already technically have it, I wouldn't mind finding another copy allo for myself because it's just so damn awesome. I hope I find it... Oh yes, character ownage. I'm rather familiar with that. My sister's Gum, my brother's Combo (Later switched to Immortals, later switched to Noise Tanks), and I am, of course, the Yoyo of the trio. Unfortunately no one will play me anymore because I always win (Unless I let them.)

Way back in 2000 I got my sega dreamcast. T'was a happy day, playing Sonic Adventure for hours on end, I finally beat it, and longed for new Dreamcast experiences. I signed up with ODCM (official Dreamcast Magazine) and soon it showed a picture of a future game: "Jet Set Radio" I thought it looked cool, but dismissed it for there were other games I was more interested in.
A couple months later, I had some extra cash, and went down to my local EB games... I found a copy of what had become "Jet GRIND Radio" I didn't understand, but I took it home. Ever since, I've been more or less obsessed. I played it constantly, and got into drawing graffiti (I sucked).
Then at the end of Grade Eight, I heard there was going to be a sequel on Xbox. of course I bought it, and then started thinnking "hey, this would make a cool comic" two years later, here I am.
holy crap, that was long.

It should be fine if he has the cover. From what I understand, most bootlegs are pretty much undecorated (i.e. you get a plain jewel case and disc). People who bootleg for a living might be able to make a disc look like the real deal. But I don't think you need to worry, Rain.

As a hardcore Sega fanatic, I picked up a Dreamcast and played the hell out of a demo that came with ODCM. Then I picked up the game and loved it until I got stuck somewhere...I forget just where, I was young so it frustrated me and I moved on.
In 8th grade, the Xbox came out and I snatched up JSRF on the game's release date. From then on, it was my religion: it's my favorite game of all time now, and I often wish back to the glory days of when Sega made stuff like this.
(Prof. K, you're in high school? Awesome!)

Well... my parents were poor at the time and couldnt by me any game consul. I was sad. Then I heard that there was a contest at McDonalds and you could win a xbox, and sure enough, I won!!! JSRF came with it. At first I thought it was a REALLY weird game, but I got hooked, and now, I am OBSESSED!! I just got a game boy SP for christmas. I didnt get a game with it so I saved up and ordered JGR from amazon.com. I havent gotten it yet. Its still in the mail. I wish amazon would go faster.

I went to my cousin's house and he had to go to work so he told me I could play on his X-Box. I asked him what games he had and he said a bunch that I knew and then Jet Set Radio (Future). He was like, "Oh it's awesome, mad cool you get to graffiti and crap. "
I was like, "Awesome." So, I hooked everything up in the living room and began playing. I did not stop for anything. A bomb could've hit and I still would've been going at it. I fell in love with Beat and he was the only one I used. Yoyo got on my nerves and Corn was blah. Gum I used once in a while.
Then I started to like Yoyo and used him all the time. I had an X-Box at home and my cousin asked me if I wanted to take it with me, but I hate borrowing stuff and it didn't even belong to him. It belonged to my other cousin.
So, after a long time, I go to Game Stop and buy it for $5 and rush home. I pop it into my X-Box and I haven't changed games since. ;D

Well, about 2 years ago, my dad wanted a new Video game experiance cuz all we had were my collection of GameBoys. So his best friend Bert bought him a Xbox then sold it to my dad for 15 quid. My dad was excited and pluged it in right away. I just watched him play Sega GT 2002. When he was finished I walked outta the look with a sad look on my face. My dad picked me up and dragged me back in. He put on JSRF which looked like the most weirdest game I've ever saw. I imediantly like the music and started to dance my hip-hop moves. When I first played it I thought Yoyo was an alien..........(He's now my 3rd fav character). When I was FINALY allowed to leave the Garage I got excited and I got run over by a blue van.... Then for a year I never left the Garage....................I was too scared!! But I did think Potts was the cutest thing ever^^ Then my friends told me to leave the Garage and here I am....Completed it 5 times and I'm now on my 6th
