Alright, I'm really bored, so I'm starting a new thing on this forum... Super Best awesome Fights! Come here every week, to see a new fight between two pop-culture characters. Vote at the top.... and every....lets say.... Saturday I'll tell you who wins based on your votes. This is really stupid... but I think it could be fun. BATTLE 1: SUPER MARIO vs SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!  We all know about Sonic, and we all know about mario... well i personally think that mario would win, because he could fly and use his hammer, and possibly connections in the family to help him out in a fight against a blue hedgehog named sonic ;D

Well, if mario gets Luigi, Sonic gets Tails or knuckles... you're choice. But remember this is a one on one fight. No outside help allowed.
I say with Sonic's speed he can run rings around Mario, and of course when sonic gets hit, all that happens is he looses some rings, but when Mario gets hit he shrinks, so sonic can just step on him. Also, when Mario tries to use his patented head jump he'll be impaled on sonic's nice hair do.
Oh yeah, and that whole Spinning move.... that's like a saw blade. He'd cut that fat plumber in half!
Another thing: Mario is fat.

Mario can Run, Swim, Bounce and Jump! Holy Crap!
All Sonic can do is turn into a round spiky oblects and shred through all manner of obstacles at supersonic speed.
I pity the fool.

Well, tabeth you have to understand Sonic can also swim and bounce and he frees all the little animal thingies from the popcap things.
Having said this Mario goes from Castle to castle saving some hot princess who is really devoted to him.
So, we need to look at how they attack... wow, the same way: Jumping on peoples heads... so my call: TIE

Okay peeps, listen up. I don't mean to offend the Mario fans, but sonic wins, hands down. The only way Mario could possibly win is if the battle was fought in a water arena, because Sonic would drown. But otherwise, Sonic wins:
Abilities
Pretty much anything Mario can do, Sonic can do or couter in some way. For instance, yes, Mario can swim. But, he can't attack underwater like Sonic can, plus Sonic can jump farther out of water than Mario can.
Sonic's attack abilities outnumber Mario's attack abilities, and are far more precise than Mario's attacks. If you include Sonic's abilities from Sonic Heroes, there's a whole slew of things he can do to win.
Items
Almost any item Mario can get, Sonic can get. Mario's flight ability doesn't give him an edge because he has to run around to charge up, and that leaves him wide open for attack. If he got the infinite flight item, the battle would be draw, assuming Mario didn't come down from flight. Otherwise, Sonic would Home Attack him, and that would be that.
Sonic also has various shields that help him. Bubble shield turns him into the bouncing hedgie of doom, while fire shield would protect him from Marios fireballs. He wouldn't really need the extra protection, since almost all of the baddies in the Sonic games have projectile weapons. Sonic could easily avoid them.
The Edge
While people can argue forever about each character's attributes, the reason Sonic would win would be this: Lifemeter. Sonic only has to have one ring to survive. After he gets hit, he gets momentary invincibility; enough time to grab his one ring. That means he can take thousands of hits, and long as he remembers to get his ring.
But there is something that will make him win, no matter what the circumstances. Listen carefully:
Chaos Emeralds
Mario doesn't have anything that comes even close to Super Sonic!
